HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR BODY MASS INDEX
"I'M JUST SHORT FOR MY WEIGHT!"
The Body Mass Index is a test that "corrects" your weight for your height. To get your BMI, divide your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared (divide your weight by your height and then divide by your height again).
WHAT THE NUMBER MEANS
Doctors can use the BMI to help determine whether a person is of a healthy weight. These are the ranges:
Under 18.0
Underweight
18.0 to 25.0
Healthy weight
25.1 to 29.9
Overweight
30.0 and above
Obese
A SIMPLE CALCULATION
This simple BMI calculator will translate your height and weight to kilos and meters for you, too. Other BMI calculators use an estimate of bone size as part of the calculation. Remember, the BMI is just a snapshot; your health picture is more complex than this form can show.
